NASA spacecraft have returned a wealth of image, topographic, and chemical data of planetary bodies across the Solar System. By integrating these data sets in the freely available Google Earth platform, we can now visit these planets and moons in a way never before possible. In this presentation suitable for ages 7+, Dr. Paul Byrne will take you on a planetary journey from Mercury to Pluto, stopping at the sweltering lava plains of Venus, the barren surface of the Moon, the rings of Saturn, and the methane lakes of Titan.
Dr. Paul Byrne is an assistant professor of planetary geology in the Department of Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at NC State and a Faculty Fellow in the Center for Geospatial Analytics.
