12:00pm to 2:00pm
- Fishbowl Forum at the D. H. Hill, Jr. Library
Please join NCSU Libraries for Raiders of the Lost Arcade, our inclusive gaming series presented as part of Making Space. As an early celebration of International Games Week, this event showcases recent additions to our gaming collection, and provides an immersive introduction to the world of video games. We will be playing a curated selection of games for platforms including Steam, Playstation 4, and Nintendo Switch, which explore different ways that video games can illustrate diverse narratives, aspirations, and life experiences. We will draw on the narratives of these games to talk about diverse representation, including resisting character tropes and stereotypes about the gaming community.
Participants will be invited to rotate through our gaming stations, and to explore how NCSU Libraries' resources can support leisure gaming, video game design, and promote critical discourse for members of the gaming community. Gamers of all interests and skill levels are encouraged to join in the fun!
Free and open to the campus community.
If you require a disability-related accommodation to participate in this event, please contact Marian Fragola at firstname.lastname@example.org or 919-513-3481 to arrange services. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time to meet your access needs.
