Meghan McCarthy, M.S., Ph.D., is Program Lead for 3D Printing and Biovisualization at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Her works involves a portfolio of tools and resources related to development and adoption of 3D printing and virtual/augmented reality (VR/AR) for bioscientific and medical research and discovery. In this Making Space event, Dr. McCarthy will present NIAID’s exciting new work using these tools. She will also talk about her path from biochemistry research to scientific IT in the federal government, and what it’s like to have one of the “13 coolest jobs in government.” Dr. McCarthy holds a B.S. in Biology from Virginia Tech, and an M.S. in Biotechnology and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from University College Cork, Ireland.
