Event Description

Durham’s Omari Akil combined his love of tabletop games and hip-hop music to create the new board game Rap Godz. By producing the game independently, with his brother, Hamu Dennis, Akil is making a concerted effort to bring more people of color into the tabletop world.

Akil will discuss the challenges and rewards of creating a game from scratch, and how his career path from a computer scientist and business systems analyst morphed into becoming an entrepreneurial game designer.
