Dr. Henry “Trae" Winter, an astrophysicist with the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO), and Peter Cheimets, a Senior Engineer who has led a number of NASA funded solar missions for SAO, will lead a seminar/discussion on taking scientific “big data” and creating visuals or other outcomes that make data accessible to a wider audience. They will also discuss the collaborative process, and how scientists and engineers can strengthen cross-disciplinary projects.
Dr. Winter and Mr. Cheimets are at NC State to discuss the project The Dynamic Sun, which includes a near-real time feed of the Sun featuring loops, sunspots, solar flares and other solar activity within an hour of their occurrence. They will be presenting on that project on Thursday, February 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hunt Library in a program that is free and open to the public. For more information about that event, click here.
