About This Event

Join NCSU Libraries for a full-day student conference to build leadership and outreach skills, learn to market yourself and your work to prospective employers, and connect with other students. Participants will learn how to use and create "open content," that is, work that can be freely accessed, used, and shared by anyone. In the first half of the day, participants will receive an overview of "open" and hands-on experience with open tools for sharing their own work, such as Creative Commons licensing, Wikipedia editing, and GitHub Pages. In the second half of the day, participants will have the chance to meet local professionals who have used "open" to grow their career, and learn tips and tricks for how they can do the same. Participants will leave with the skills to make their own work open, advocate for openness, and market their open experiences to potential employers or collaborators. Come with an idea, or plan to be inspired!
