Artist and graphic design professor at Appalachian State Taekyeom Lee produces beautiful 3D printed pieces in unconventional materials ranging from plastic to precious metal clay by building his own tools, including a desktop 3D printer and paste extruders. He will discuss how, through technological convergence, new manufacturing processes using digital fabrications such as 3D printing have broadened creative possibilities for artists and designers and perception of three-dimensional experience.
Professor Lee will also lead a hands-on workshop on 3D Printing Ceramics on Friday, March 31st for NCSU students, faculty, and staff.
