Workshop Description

During this workshop we will explore how D3.js functions and interacts with the Document Object Model (DOM). We shall create some basic types of visualizations that make use of various D3 methods and combine those with the power of the DOM and CSS. This workshop will put you on the path to more complex applications of the powerful D3 framework.

A basic knowledge of the DOM and other web fundamentals is required, and people with no prior programming experience are recommended to attend the preceding Web Fundamentals workshop as a primer.

During the course of the workshop, attendees will use a local web server from within the Chrome web browser and Chrome’s developer tools to debug and breakdown the web.

We will have MacBooks available for the attendees, but you can bring your own laptop as well running Windows, Mac OS, or Linux with the Chrome web browser installed.
