Computing, Printing and Copying
Computers | Printing | Photocopiers
- The Computer Availability in the Veterinary Medicine Library website shows all of the Unity workstations in the Library. The majority are College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) Unity workstations which NCSU patrons may use to access their Unity filespace and the full suite of Unity applications. The two NCSU Libraries Unity workstations at the entrance to the Library do not have the CVM-specific applications.
All Unity workstations in the main reading room and conference rooms normally print using print quota to the A110-2 B&W printer in the current periodicals area. You may also select printers in the copier room: a110-1 for B&W or a110-color1 for color printing.
- Visitors may use the two guest library workstations in the Veterinary Medicine Library. These computers provide quick access to the internet, to the Libraries catalog and databases, and to some productivity software, but not Unity file access. One of these is located on the south side of the Service Desk for quick lookups, and the other is located next to A110. These computers print to the VML printer, which requires a WolfCopy card to release print jobs. Or NCSU-users may use WolfPrint "Print a File."
- The VML has several PC and Mac laptops and tablet PCs available for
loan through the Libraries' technology lending service.
These laptops are equipped with the full suite of Microsoft Office
applications, as well as web browsers and other basic applications and
utilities.
- Wireless Computing is
available in the library. This service provides wireless network access from
one of our laptops or from your own laptop. For more information, see the
NCSU Libraries' Connecting to Internet and Campus Network page.
All Unity printing is serviced by WolfPrint. The fees are $0.06 per page for black and white printing and $0.25 for each page of color printing. This is the same printing service provided at the other NCSU Libraries.
You need a positive balance in your WolfPrint Print Quota in order to print to printers in the library. Any person with an active Unity account already has a WolfPrint Quota Account; however if you have never printed in a Unity computing lab you may not have an active balance. You can check your print quota at http://print.ncsu.edu and use a credit card on that site to purchase quota online. The minimum quota purchase is $5.00. Quota may also be added with cash or check at the WolfCopy Service Office at the D.H. Hill Library or at Administrative Services 1 Bldg. between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
NCSU users can print to WolfPrint printers from personally-owned computers/laptops using "Print A File." Please see these sites for information:
Please review the WolfPrint Frequently Asked Questions. If you have any questions specifically about printing in the Veterinary Medicine Library, please visit or call the service desk (919-513-6218) or email libraryvetmed@ncsu.edu.
For non-NCSU printing, the two library guest workstations print to the VML printer, which requires a WolfCopy card to release print jobs at 10 cents per page. Obtain a WolfCopy card from the machine in the copier room--info below.
There are three black and white full-featured photocopiers in the Veterinary
Medicine Library. All are are capable of reducing and enlarging copies, making
double-sided copies, and copying onto transparencies. All are equipped for
11" by 17" copies. One of these is a book edge copier for tightly bound materials. There is also a color copier (25 cents per page).
All copiers are owned and maintained by WolfCopy, and run on the
WolfCopy card system. You can pay for copies in three ways:
- With a WolfCopy card. Copies made with a WolfCopy card are 5 cents per page. There is a Card Purchase/Value Adding machine in the back of the Copier Room. Purchase a WolfCopy card with a $1 bill and receive a card with 10 cents in value. Add value to your existing card. The machine accepts $1, $5, $10 and $20 bills, but does not give change or accept coins.
- With your All-Campus Card (ID card), only if you have had it
specifically encoded for WolfCopy copying at the West Dunn Building.
- With change and single dollar bills, at the one B&W copier that takes
cash or the color copier. B&W copies made with cash are 10 cents per page. Color copies are 25 cents per page.
Report problems with copiers or your copy card to the library service desk. You will need to know the approximate value on your card. Please write your name on your card--a permanent marker is available by the Card Purchase unit.
