Request Books, Articles

If a book or journal article is not available at the Veterinary Medicine Library (check the catalog to determine this) then you can order it. Read on for information about how to obtain your item of interest:

• If the book or article is available at another NCSU library...
  And you are a student, faculty member, or otherwise affiliated with the College of Veterinary Medicine, then you can order your item through Tripsaver/Campus Delivery. Books loans are free. You can fill out and submit the online form on the NCSU Libraries' website and you will be notified when your book arrives for pickup at the Veterinary Medicine Library. Journal articles cost $8.00 up to 30 pages and $0.25 per page over 30 pages. You can fill out and submit the online form on the NCSU Libraries website to order your article and you will be notified when it is posted on the Web. These requests usually take 24-48 hours to process. See below for order forms:

• If the book or article is not available at an NCSU library...
  And you are a student, faculty member, or otherwise affiliated with the College of Veterinary Medicine, then you can order your item through Tripsaver/Interlibrary Loan. Both book loans and articles can be ordered without cost. You can fill out and submit the online form on the NCSU Libraries' website. You will be notified via email when you book loan arrives for pickup and when you article is posted to the Web. If the item is available at one of the libraries in the Triangle (Duke, UNC-CH, NC Central), then it should take 2-4 days; if it is not available at one of these libraries then your request could take up to two weeks to process.

• If you are not affiliated with the College of Veterinary Medicine...
  then you can still order journal articles or book chapters from our library, for a fee. The fee schedule is as follows

• $5.00 per article up to 15 pages for veterinarians who are CVM alumni
• $7.00 per article up to 15 pages for in state (NC) veterinarians or veterinary technicians
• $11.00 per article up to 15 pages for out of state veterinarians or veterinary technicians
• 10 cents a page per page over 15 pages
• $3.00 charge per article for faxing (if requested) or rush article

Contact the Veterinary Medicine Library to request an article via this delivery method - the request will be processed within 2 business days.

If you are not affiliated with the College of Veterinary Medicine...
And you are not a veterinarian, then you should contact your local library to arrange an Interlibrary Loan.
