The video may be used in a variety of instructional contexts to help college students learn
- an overview of the peer review process
- how peer-reviewed articles are different from other types of publications
- how peer-reviewed articles are tied to teaching and learning activities on college campuses
- where to go for help in finding peer-reviewed articles.
- Ask students to watch the video as part of a research assignment that requires the use of scholarly or peer-reviewed articles.
- Assign students to watch the video and write a critical response of the content through a discussion board, blog or other online applications like VoiceThread.
- Play the video in class to lead a critical discussion on the production of new knowledge through research and scholarly sources of information.
- Hold a debate about the usefulness and limitations of the peer review system and in preparation have the students view the video and any additional readings related to the topic such as Smith, R.
