What is ERIC?

ERIC is a database of education-related information resources created by the US Department of Education. Think of it as a sort of search engine for finding out what has been written in the education literature.

It includes:

  • scholarly journal articles
  • a wide range of other materials -- books, curricular manuals, conference proceedings, and dissertations

Some of these resources may not have been formally published elsewhere.

The NCSU Libraries has online access to many, but not all, of the information resources cited in ERIC. Some will be online through ERIC. Others will be online through other Web-based resources.
