Visual Tips

Visuals are the focal point of a poster

  • Photographs, illustrations, diagrams and charts can all present the same information in different ways.
  • Labels must be close to any diagrams.
  • Do not overwhelm the viewer with too much information.
  • Less is more in a poster.
  • Think of your poster as an illustrated abstract.

Minimize text - use graphics

  • Keep text to a minimum.
  • A poster is not a blown up paper!

No one reads lots of small text that is unreadable from more than a foot away.
