Text Tips

Organizing text

  • Use headings to help readers find what they're looking for: objective, results, conclusions, etc.
  • The basic elements of a poster are the main heading, visuals, and finally, the supporting text.
  • Columns help.

Textual Parts of a Poster

  • Include a header with the name of the student(s), the name of the university and department, and funding agency.
  • Be sure to identify the funding agency as "Sponsor: ..."
  • Your poster should contain:
    • the title of your project.
    • a list of all project collaborators.
    • an abstract.

Tell viewers - what your text and images should say!

  • Tell us why your work matters
  • What you did
  • What you found
  • What you recommend.
  • Avoid excessive focus on methods - it's the results and implications that count!
