POWERPOINT DESIGN TECHNIQUES FOR YOUR POSTER

Setting the Size of Your Poster

  1. Find PowerPoint in campus computer labs:
    1. Available in the Digital Media Lab
    2. Available on all Unity Lab computers

  2. Using PowerPoint, open a blank presentation and set the slide size to the desired finished product size (i.e. 48' x 36' or 52' x 36'), using the page Setup under File. Do this before constructing the poster in PowerPoint. The largest PowerPoint size is 56''x 56''.

  3. Keep in mind that the actual paper size usually limits one dimension to 36 or 48 inches.

  4. In PowerPoint, view the document at 33% or 25% to see the entire poster at once (for overall design). View it at 100% only to work on very small details or to see what portions will look like at 'real size' when printed out.

  5. If a poster is resized after it has been designed it may affect the objects, reposition as necessary.
