Abstract
The teaching and learning experience can be improved immensely if we use technology to provide support for extensive collaboration between the participants. The software developed, Expertiza, is a peer review based learning software that produces reusable learning objects through active learning exercises. It can perform as a decision-support system for instructors, providing them all the info they need from reviews of other students? work, author feedback on reviews, partner evaluations, etc., in order to evaluate students? contributions.
In this thesis, we look into Expertiza and propose new features to the learning system. These new features will transform Expertiza into an efficient support system for instructors and students so that they make the right decisions at the right time. The modification aims to decrease the amount of work done by reducing the number of extra actions performed by each user, and to identify situations that require human intervention and present those to appropriate persons.
