Ways to Give
There are many ways of giving to the NCSU Libraries. Each method can reflect a
donor's particular interests and each has distinct tax advantages. A charitable gift
may be outright (providing immediate support to the library), it may be deferred, or
it may be a bequest.
- Direct Gift
- Gifts of cash, check, or credit card have an immediate impact on the NCSU Libraries.
Make your check payable to Friends of the Library. To make a gift, call the Friends
of the Library at (919) 515-2841, or make your gift online.
- Gift of Material
- The NCSU Libraries gratefully accepts donations of materials that support the academic
teaching and research mission of the university. For more information contact the Friends of
the Library at (919) 515-2841.
- Matching Gift
- Many employers will match employees' gifts to the Libraries. If your company is eligible,
request a matching gift form from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift.
The impact of your gift may be doubled or possibly tripled! Some companies match gifts made by
retirees and/or spouses. For more information, please see NC State's matching gift page.
- Planned Giving
- Planned giving enables you to give gifts of assets during your lifetime
or through a will or testamentary instrument. In this
way, your gift can be given now or later. Planned gifts
provide enhanced tax benefits, and some return an income
to the donor. For more information please see NC
State's planned giving page.
- Securities
- The full-market value of gifts of appreciated securities is tax deductible.
In most cases, appreciation in the value of the security
benefits the Libraries and is not taxable to the donor.
For more information please see NC
State's securities donation page.
- Real Estate
- Real property, either in its entirety or in part, can be deeded to
The NC State University Foundation to benefit the
Libraries. It is possible to arrange a sizable tax
deduction by deeding a home to the Libraries, while
continuing to occupy the property for life. For more
information please see NC
State's real estate donation page .
- Tax Benefits for Charitable Gifts
- Gifts to North Carolina State University or to one of the university-related foundations
qualify for any applicable deductions on income, gift or estate tax returns. For more information
please see NC State's tax benefits page.
