Norris Dearmon is recognized in Kannapolis as an unofficial city historian. A veteran of World War II, Dearmon worked for some 30 years in the Cannon Mills mailroom. Upon retirement he became a driving force in the effort to preserve Kannapolis's history. This effort culminated with the creation of the Hinson History Room in the city library, where Dearmon still works.

This interview is organized around several major themes: Mr. Dearmon's own background; the general history of Kannapolis; his participation in the movement to preserve historic Kannapolis; and his work at the library.
