Historical Note

In 1898, Dr. Carl Schenck was invited to attend the first session of the State Forestry Board of Minnesota. Schenck went on a trip of inspection in northern Minnesota in the company of Samuel B. Green, who was a professor of forestry at the University of Minnesota, and Christopher C. Andrews, the chief fire warden of the state. Frederick Weyerhauser was also a member of the board. It is possible these photographs were collected during that trip.
