Historical Note

Dr. Carl Schenck and the Biltmore Forestry had their ties severed with George W. Vanderbilt and the Biltmore Estate in 1909. From 1909 to 1914 the Biltmore Forestry school spent their time traveling between six working forestry fields. One of these fields was in Michigan, near the town of Cadillac. These photographs are from the school's different trips to that area during the years 1910 to 1913.
