Abstract:
This folder contains 17 photographs of buildings and street scenes in Biltmore Village, North Carolina. There are also some photographs of trees in Pisgah Forest. All but two of the photos are undated. The dated photographs are from 1897 and 1908.

Historical Note

Following the construction and opening of the Biltmore Estate in 1895, George W. Vanderbilt purchased the nearby town of Best in 1898 and renamed it Biltmore Village. The village included housing for the estate employees, and a church, school, and hospital. The village no longer exists as a seperate entity. Since 1929 it has been within the corporate limits of Asheville, North Carolina.
