Abstract:
This folder contains 11 images of the Vanderbilt family. There are formal portraits of them and casual poses of them on outings in the Pisgah Forest. Two of the photographs are dated 1898, the others are undated.

Historical Note

George W. Vanderbilt (1862-1914) was the son of William H. Vanderbilt and the grandson of "Commodore" Cornelius Vanderbilt. In 1898, Vanderbilt married Edith Dresser (1873-1958) and they moved to the Biltmore Estate. Cornelia Vanderbilt (1900-1976) was their only child.
