Historical Note
Large tree nurseries were part of the Biltmore Estate. These nurseries served as seedling protection for species both native to and imported to the Biltmore Forest for reforestation.
Schenck even provided a unique technique of placing stones on the roots of most of the plants to prevent them from being
torn loose by storm.
