Subject.- Reactor safety precautions.</opener>

<p>It is suggested that/<hi rend="sup">the</hi> tangential exposure tube that passes underneath<lb/>
the reactor always be loaded witha neutron absorbing "rabbit"<lb/>
which can be made to stop directly under the reactor to provide<lb/>
aadditional emergency shut down action except when it <orig reg="is">wis</orig> being<lb/>
used for a specific "rabbit" experiment. A boron loaded "rabbitt"<lb/>
should be rather easy to construct. It would of course have to be<lb/>
very carefully sealed so as to minimise any possible dispersal of<lb/>
boron that would reduce the reactivity of the reactor unintentionally.
