Boron for Curtain<lb/>

<p>The boron curtain has an area<ptr target="a"/> of 55 ft<hi rend="sup">2</hi>, and is 1/2" thick.<lb/>
thus the volume is 2.3 ft<hi rend="sup">3</hi>. Assuming that the maximum packed<lb/>
density is 1.73 gm/cm<hi rend="sup">3</hi>, the weigh needed is 250 lb.<lb/>
Since we plan to mix it with paraffin, the density will not be that<lb/>
high, so somewhat less will be used. I propose we order:

<item>200 lb 60F Metallurgical grade Boron carbide<lb/>
@ $5<hi rend="sup"><hi rend="underline">00</hi></hi>/lb = $1000.</item>
