<p>Visual observations were made concerning the barytes the<lb/>
two sources (<name type="place">Georgia</name> and <name type="place">South Carolina</name>), and little difference except<lb/>
in size could be seen.
</p>
<p>The samples were then taken to the Ceramics Department where<lb/>
they were again examined. No major difference could be detected.
</p>
<p>The densities of the two samples are shown below:

<p>It can be seen that the density is somewhat less for the <name type="place">South<lb/>
Carolina</name> sample, and also much less uniform. This, however, need not<lb/>
be true for another sample taken from the same place.
</p>
<p>X-ray patterns which are attached to the original of this report,<lb/>
show nearly the same composition except for one line in the <name type="place">Georgia</name><lb/>
sample. This line is probably due to an iron compound.
