1933 - Agricultural Adjustment Administration established
President Franklin D. Roosevelt establishes the Agricultural Adjustment Administration as the first federal farm program. Director Schaub credits the program as setting in motion revolutionary changes in farming and agricultural work in North Carolina.
1936 - North Carolina Farm Bureau established
Agricultural leaders in North Carolina establish the Farm Bureau to protect farm and rural families by giving them a unified voice in agricultural affairs.
June 7, 1940 - North Carolina State College committed to the total war effort
Recognizing the college's potential for wartime service due to its technological programs, the committee for national defense worked to adapt the college's program to the war effort.
1943 - Extension Service assigned operation of the farm labor program.
The farm labor program encouraged farmers to cooperate with each other and share their labor and machinery. Farmers were encouraged to keep machinery in good repair for better efficiency.
