B. W. Wells Lantern Slides & Freda Wilkins Photographs of the Wells Savannah
Dr. Bertram Whittier Wells took hundreds of photographs of North Carolina
and beyond, converting them to lantern slides to accompany his lectures.
Many of his lantern slides, dating from the 1920s and 1930s, were hand
colored. North Carolina photographer Freda Wilkins has contributed another
1,000 photographs to the database, capturing four seasons of the Wells
Savannah in 2005 and 2006. An exhibit commemorating Dr. Wells' life and
work is available at: http://www.lib.ncsu.edu/exhibits/wells
