Abstract:

The Tim Buchman Photographs document historic buildings and grave markers across North Carolina with color slides taken for Catherine W. Bishir’s North Carolina Architecture and M. Ruth Little's Sticks and Stones: Three Centuries of North Carolina Gravemarkers. The collection includes approximately 1270 photographic slides, the bulk of which depict historic North Carolina buildings dating from colonial times to the beginning of World War II. The historic gravemarker slides depict headstones, vaults, and cemeteries dating from 1722 to 1980. Digital images are available at the website The Built Heritage of North Carolina: Historical Architecture in the Old North State. The Tim Buchman Photographs are owned by Preservation North Carolina and are stored on their premises. Please contact PNC in order to access the originals.

  • Series 1:Photographs for North Carolina Architecture, 1996-1997

    The Photographs for North Carolina Architecture series includes approximately 1130 color photographic slides of historic buildings across North Carolina. The photographs were taken between 1996 and 1997 and depict buildings dating from the colonial times to the beginning of World War II. Subject buildings include houses, churches, courthouses, and lighthouses, among others. This series includes two separate sets of slides arranged by county, with some slide duplication between them.
