To use the web version, you must first register:

**ALL web version users must register with CAS before accessing the database. Registration requires a valid ncsu.edu e-mail address. Users must agree not to use SciFinder for commercial research.
We are interested in your feedback on the web version! Do you like it more or less than the client version? Were there features in the client version that you are unable to use as effectively in the web version? Let us know.
Please note!! Based on user feedback, we re-allocated the majority of our licenses towards the web version of SciFinder Scholar on January 5, 2009, making the web platform the preferred method of access at NCSU. The desktop client version will still be supported, but with a limited number of licenses.

SciFinder Scholar desktop client software (v. 2007)
SciFinder Scholar desktop client software can be downloaded ONLY by NCSU students, faculty, and staff. The client version of the software has arguably more search features, but access to the CAS database with the software is restricted to NC State University IP addresses (i.e., the software must be run on campus). It is also available for use on PCs in the Libraries (under the Windows Start menu, not the application launcher).
NOTE: As of January 5, 2009, only ONE campus license is available for the client version of SciFinder Scholar. Most of our licenses will be devoted to the web version. Frequent users of the client software may experience increased "too many concurrent users" access problems after this switch--please preferentially use the web version to avoid this. However, the client version will still be supported to ensure access to specialized search functions. Let us know if you have questions or comments about this change.

SciFinder Scholar 2007 requires either MS Windows 2000 (SP3 or higher), XP (SP1 or SP2), or Vista, or Mac OS X (10.3 or higher). Please also verify your computer meets other system requirements listed here before installation. Select your operating system below for installation files and instructions.
Older versions of SciFinder Scholar are no longer supported by CAS.
