Beilstein/Gmelin

These databases contain information on the preparation and properties of organic compounds (Beilstein) and inorganic compounds (Gmelin).

Using Beilstein/Gmelin on your computer

The databases can be accessed in either of two ways. Click a link to continue:

  1. Via web browser through DiscoveryGate
  2. Via CrossFire Commander desktop software

*See this comparison guide if you need help determining the best method of access for you. Most users should use DiscoveryGate, especially new users. Experienced users without a need for off-campus access may continue to use the CrossFire Commander.

Using Beilstein/Gmelin in the NCSU Libraries

Beilstein and Gmelin are also available on selected computers in the NCSU Libraries:

  • CrossFire Commander software is available on PCs in the Learning Commons. Look under the start menu (not the application launcher).
  • DiscoveryGate is accessible on the multimedia PC in the west wing (requires staff login--ask at the reference desk for assistance).

Ask at the reference desk if you need assistance locating or using these computers. Check the computing page for information and policies.
