Malone, NCSU Distinguished University Scholar and director of the Sigma Xi Center in the Research Triangle Park, will be the speaker at this year's annual FOL Fall Luncheon on November 17, 1994. The luncheon will be held at the NCSU Faculty Club from 12:00 to 1:30 P.M. Malone has held tenured faculty appointments at MIT and the University of Connecticut, where he was dean of the Graduate School. He has served as president of the American Meteorological Society, the American Geophysical Union, and the Sigma Xi Scientific Honor Society. He also was foreign secretary of the National Academy of Sciences from 1978 to 1982. In 1994 Malone received the American Association for the Advancement of Science's award for International Scientific Cooperation for his leadership in developing and organizing international programs that promote international cooperation.
