"FOL Special Lecture"


The Friends, together with the Raleigh bookstore Murder For 
Fun, will host a special lecture featuring Sharyn McCrumb, 
award-winning Appalachian novelist, on December 3, 1994, at 
NCSU's Natural Resources Library.  In her soon-to-be published 
novel _She Walks These Hills_  (the third novel in _The Ballad 
Series_ and a compelling sequel to _If Ever I Return, Pretty 
Peggy-O_ and _The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter_, both listed 
as notable books by the _New York Times_) McCrumb weaves 
together the legends and natural wonders of the mountain 
region of the South.  She has twice won the Best Appalachian 
Novel Award as well as Edgar and Agatha awards.  Mark your 
calendar and plan on attending. Friends members will receive
