Howell, 'LIBREF--The Libraries' E-mail Reference Service', NCSU Libraries Newsletter v22n02 (September 1994) _The NCSU Libraries Newsletter_ Volume 22 no. 2 September 1994 Howell, Mark "LIBREF--The Libraries' E-mail Reference Service" Do you always have the time to visit the library to track down a particular bit of information? Have you tried to call the library to get an answer to a question and found the line busy? The solution to these situations for you may be the NCSU Libraries' electronic mail reference service, LIBREF. This service allows you to send reference questions via e-mail and have the Libraries' Reference Department respond with an answer. You will receive a reply within twenty-four hours (exceptions are weekends and holidays). Although not intended to provide answers to in-depth questions or questions requiring immediate attention, LIBREF is ideal for answers to brief factual questions. Examples include questions about the Libraries' holdings or information regarding library services. A request for a publisher's address and an inquiry about the NCSU Libraries Information System are just two examples of recent questions sent to LIBREF. Send questions via e-mail to: LIBREF@ncsu.edu If you have any questions regarding this service, please call the Reference Department at ext. 5-2936 or send e-mail to LIBREF. Try it!
