"North Carolina Writers Series" The sixth annual N.C. Writers Series, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, begins on February 22, 1994, with NCSU's poet- in-residence and professor of English Gerald Barrax. His book _Leaning Against the Sun_ was nominated for both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award in 1992. The series continues on March 24 with Karla F. C. Holloway, professor of English and African American Literature at Duke University; mystery writer Elizabeth Daniels Squire on April 19; and Kaye Gibbons, the Friends of the Library's author-in-residence, on May 26. Lectures will be held at the Bishop's House on the St. Mary's College campus. Series tickets are $15 for FOL members and $30 for the general public.
