Garwig, 'Burlington Textiles Library Creates Quick Response Collection', NCSU Libraries Newsletter v21n01 (August 1993) _The NCSU Libraries Newsletter_ Volume 21 no. 1 August 1993 Garwig, Paul "Burlington Textiles Library Creates Quick Response Collection" The Textiles Library, under the direction of library head Paul Garwig, has begun assembling a Quick Response Collection (QRC). The textile industry has a growing interest in QR, a time-based, market-sensitive manufacturing strategy developed in the 1980s, and Garwig hopes that the Textiles Library will become a leading, comprehensive resource for information on the subject. The collection was started with a $6,000 grant from the American Textile Manufacturers Association to Professor Trevor Little (NCSU Department of Textile and Apparel Management) and Garwig. The QRC will be open to students, faculty, and others for research, as well as to companies and consultants planning or implementing QR. The broad scope of the collection includes books and pamphlets, journals and newsletters, bibliographies, video- and audiotapes, committee records, standards, and software. In the first year, work is focusing on identifying relevant materials, compiling a bibliography, acquiring some sources not now in NCSU Libraries' collections, and developing an approach to organizing the collection for use. Garwig is also seeking donations of materials related to QR. Ann Swicegood, a senior majoring in textile design, is assisting Garwig on the project.
