Editor, 'Library of Congress Files on Internet', NCSU Libraries Newsletter v20n11 (July 1993) _The NCSU Libraries Newsletter_ Volume 20 no. 11 July 1993 Editor "Library of Congress Files on Internet" The Library of Congress (LC) has placed on the Internet more than 26-million LC records in thirty-five different files, available for use by the general public. The host address for telnet access to the Library of Congress Information System (LOCIS) is: locis.loc.gov (140.147.254.3) The library supports both 3270 and line mode for access to its files. LOCIS includes more than 15-million catalog records for materials (including books, journals, and selected U.S. and foreign legislation) in all formats (print, microform, Braille, etc.). Except for national holidays, LOCIS is available for searching Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., EST; on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and on Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Complete instructions for searching are available on the initial screens presented to users connecting to LOCIS.
