Gilreath, 'Graduate Student Council Library Rooms', NCSU Libraries Newsletter v20n06 (February 1993) _The NCSU Libraries Newsletter_ Volume 20 no. 6 February 1993 Gilreath, Charles "Graduate Student Council Library Rooms" On the west end of floors 2 through 5 in the D. H. Hill Library's new addition are four locked, group-use rooms. These facilities, already well known to a few, are controlled by the Graduate Student Council and available to all currently enrolled graduate students at NCSU. Each of the four rooms can comfortably accommodate from four to a dozen users at a time. Each is furnished for a different purpose. On the second floor the GSC has provided four computers (2 Mac SEs and two DOS clones) and two laser printers; word-processing and spreadsheet programs are mounted on the machines and connectivity to the campus network is available. The third- floor room contains group study tables with seating for twelve, while the fourth-floor room is furnished with six individual study carrels. The fifth-floor room provides lounge-type seating for nine. These rooms are always kept locked. Any currently enrolled NCSU graduate student is welcome to check out a key to the rooms for four hours at the lower circulation desk in the D. H. Hill Library. No reservations for any of the rooms can be made; use is strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. The fine for failing to return a key on time is $3 per day.
