CAP, 'CAP Update', NCSU Libraries Newsletter v20n03 (October 1992) _The NCSU Libraries Newsletter_ Volume 20 no. 3 October 1992 CAP Study Team "CAP Update" The second phase of the Collection Analysis Project (CAP) ended October 9, 1992. The six task forces have completed their reports, covering collection management issues related to materials funding and allocation; collection policies and assessment; preservation; organization, communication, and staffing; resource sharing; and the impact of emerging technologies on libraries of the future. Each task force report contains recommendations for the improvement of these vital collection management concerns, potential costs involved, as well as a timetable for implementation. During CAP's last phase, the study team will prepare a final report presenting an implementation plan for changing the Libraries' collection management practices. This final report will incorporate the major sections of the Interim Report that pertain to the history and description of the collection; the environmental forces affecting the collection; the Libraries' collection goals, objectives, and philosophy; and portions of the task forces' reports and recommendations. The report will be delivered to the director of Libraries in late December 1992.
