"Library Receives NASA Technical Reports"


The NCSU Libraries has acquired a large set of NASA technical 
reports from the defunct North Carolina Science and 
Technology Research Center (NCSTRC), a former NASA 
technology transfer center.  The acquisition of the collection 
provided a wonderful opportunity to supplement the extensive 
collection of NASA materials already housed in the library's 
Documents Department.

During the summer of 1991, Documents Department staff 
obtained 148 shelves of NASA reports, 14 shelves of reports 
from other agencies and nongovernment sources, and 16 
cabinets of NASA microfiche.  Gaps in the library's paper NASA 
reports collection have been filled with the addition of 414 
reports from the NCSTRC materials.  The remaining documents 
will be donated to another library to supplement its collection 
of NASA technical reports.

The NCSTRC microfiche covers the years 1962 through 1992, 
extending the library's microfiche collection of NASA 
materials past 1969, where it formerly stopped, and filling 
gaps in the collection.  The staff in the Microforms Room has 
added over 38,000 microfiche to the holdings, covering the 
years 1982 through 1992.  Even though the older fiche have not 
yet been processed, they are available for use.
