CAP, 'CAP Begins', NCSU Libraries Newsletter v19n06 (April 1992) _The NCSU Libraries Newsletter_ Volume 19 no. 6 April 1992 CAP Study Team "CAP Begins" The Collection Management Department is pleased to announce that it has undertaken the Association of Research Libraries' Collection Analysis Project. This self-study project is designed to assist academic and research libraries in assessing the value of their collection management programs and policies. The NCSU Libraries' Collection Analysis Project, which began March 20, 1992, and concludes mid-December 1992, will be divided into three phases. The first phase of CAP will gather information on current and past environmental trends and collection management issues. It will conclude with an interim report identifying specific areas of additional study. During the second phase of CAP, task forces involving both EPA and SPA staff will be formed to address these areas of study. The task forces, each led by a member of the study team, will formulate recommendations and prepare reports for their topics. During the final phase of CAP, the study team will incorporate the task forces' recommendations into a final report, to be presented to the director of the Libraries. The CAP study team is led by Margaret Hunt (head, Collection Management). Its members include John Abbott (associate head, Collection Management), Ronnie Pitman and Orion Pozo (Collection Management), Carolyn Argentati (head, Natural Resources Library), Nancy Gibbs (associate head, Acquisitions), and Eric Morgan (systems librarian). The study team will be assisted by Claire Braxton (Collection Management), who will act as the team's resource person.
