Davis, 'Potential Serials Cancellations', NCSU Libraries Newsletter v1995n00 (Davis Jinnie) _The NCSU Libraries Newsletter_ Volume 22 no. 9 April 1995 Davis, Jinnie "Potential Serials Cancellations" With the uncertainty of state funding for the NCSU Libraries' collections, Collection Management staff is collecting usage data from faculty and students in preparation for potential serials cancellations this summer and fall. Every NCSU faculty member will receive a list of all currently received serials titles related to his or her field, as determined by the Library of Congress classification number. They will be asked to indicate frequency of use (i.e., monthly, quarterly, annually, no opinion) for each title. The Graduate Student Association will also receive lists for distribution to graduate student representatives. With the results of the use survey and after budget figures are received in the summer, Collection Management will compile an appeal list of potential cancellations for further review by faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate representatives. Cancellation decisions will be made on the basis of information from several additional sources as well, including citation data, interlibrary loan data, and reshelving studies. For more information about this process, please call Margaret Hunt (head, Collection Management, at ext. 5-7110) or Suzanne Pitman (associate director, Technical Services and Collection Management, at ext. 5-2843).
