Gilreath, 'Dora Zia to Retire', NCSU Libraries Newsletter v1994n00 (Gilreath Charles) _The NCSU Libraries Newsletter_ Volume 21 no. 11 June 1994 Gilreath, Charles L.02 "Dora Zia to Retire" On June 30, 1994, Dora Zia will retire as head of the Veterinary Medical Library (VML). She has successfully expanded the information services at VML during her tenure in this position, increasing the number of electronic research products available to users and providing VML staff with additional training to respond to reference queries. Her retirement is the culmination of a varied and distinguished career in libraries throughout the Triangle. Before assuming her duties at VML, Zia headed the library at Becton Dickinson for thirteen years. After retiring from Becton Dickinson, she worked in a temporary capacity in the NCSU Libraries' Reference Department and served several months as acting head of VML before taking on the position full time in July 1991. She served as a library consultant with the State Library of North Carolina earlier in her career, where she was responsible for organizing collections and training staff to operate in-house libraries in eight state agencies. In the 1960s, Zia worked as acting head of the Tobacco Literature Service and was the chemistry librarian at UNC-Chapel Hill.
