Pitman, 'NCSU Libraries Annual Faculty Award', NCSU Libraries Newsletter v18n05 (August 1991) _The NCSU Libraries Newsletter_ Volume 18 no. 5 August 1991 Pitman, Ronnie "NCSU Libraries Annual Faculty Award" The NCSU Libraries announces the third annual North Carolina State University Libraries Faculty Award. This award is given annually to a University faculty member who has contributed consistently or notably to the operation and development of the NCSU Libraries. The award, established in commemoration of the library's centennial year, 1989, is a means for the library to recognize contributions of NCSU faculty. Dr. Maurice Farrier of the Entomology Department was honored with the first award. Dr. Alex DeGrand of the History Department received the second award. Nominations are requested for this award and should be based on the following criteria: 1. Use of the Libraries in carrying out teaching, research, and/or extension responsibilities, 2. Efforts to encourage students to use the Libraries, 3. Interaction and cooperation with the Libraries' faculty and staff, 4. Service on library committees, 5. Evidence of appreciation for and promotion of the NCSU Libraries, 6. Support of the Libraries' mission. The North Carolina State University Libraries Faculty Award will include: 1. Use of a faculty study in the D. H. Hill Library for one year, 2. Opportunity to select $500.00 of nonserial materials for the Libraries (materials will be purchased with Friends of the Library funds and identified in honor of the awardee), 3. The choice of either 2,000 photocopies or the equivalent dollar amount in online computer searching, 4. Honorary life membership in the Friends of the Library, 5. Name engraved on a permanent NCSU Libraries Faculty Award plaque to be housed in a prominent location in the D. H. Hill Library, 6. A certificate of recognition. The Friends of the Library will present the award at the FOL Fall Luncheon. This award is made possible by funding from the Friends of the Library. Any NCSU faculty member, except former recipients, is eligible to be nominated for this award. The nominator should use the form on the opposite side of this page and provide a letter describing how the nominee meets the above criteria.
