Gilreath, 'New CD-ROM Access Tools', NCSU Libraries Newsletter v18n05 (August 1991) _The NCSU Libraries Newsletter_ Volume 18 no. 5 August 1991 Gilreath, Charles L.01 "New CD-ROM Access Tools" By the beginning of the 1991 fall semester, many users of the NCSU Libraries will find that library research has been made more efficient and effective through the introduction of several new CD-ROM products. Most of these products are electronic versions of familiar print indexes, but the software running the CD-ROMs enables users to be much more precise in their inquiries. Not only will users be able to search standard access points such as author and subject heading, but they will also be able to search for individual keywords and phrases and to combine search elements to locate the most relevant materials available. The new products that will be available this fall include: Design Library: Art Index (art and architecture articles, 1984 to date) Textiles Library: Textiles Technology Digest (articles and reports, 1978 to date) Natural Resources: Natural Resources Metabase (articles, reports, and other library information on environment and natural resources management, 1974 to date, with selected historical items included) Selected Water Resources Abstracts (articles and reports on water resources research and management, 1967 to 1990) Reference Department, D. H. Hill: Psyclit (articles in psychology, 1974 to date) Predicasts (articles on domestic and international business, 1990 to date) Inspec (articles and reports on electronics, physics, and computing, 1989 to date) MLA Bibliography (articles and monographs on language and literature, 1981 to date) DiscLit (full text of critical works on authors and citations to other books of criticism) Medline Express (articles on biomedical research and health care management, 1985 to date).
