Friends of the Library News: Book Sale Remains Popular
Event
By Anna Dahlstein, Friends of the Library
Students seeking bargain-priced textbooks and avid readers from
the community expressed satisfaction with their serendipitous discoveries
at the Friends' eighteenth annual Book Sale, held April 26 through
28, 2007, on the Brickyard. Although used books are readily available
online, people clearly enjoy "the thrill of the hunt" and
in-person browsing. Recreational reading aside, the most popular
subject categories at the sale this year remained math, engineering,
and the natural sciences, which were well represented thanks to
donations from many NC State faculty, students, and alumni.
Proceeds from the sale enhance the Libraries' collections and services.
