Friends of the Library: In Memoriam--Bernard B. Blanchard

Bernard Berkeley Blanchard died at the age of eighty-four on July
18, 2006. Born in Saluda, North Carolina, she was the granddaughter
of Governor and Mrs. Richard I. Manning of Columbia, South Carolina.
In 1952 she married Charles Fuller Blanchard, a former president
of the Friends of the Library. Both Blanchards became life members
of the Friends and created the Blanchard Endowment, which supports
the NCSU Libraries' collections in all subjects and formats.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Fuller Blanchard; daughters
Lelia Bernard Blanchard and Anna Neal Blanchard; sister, Lelia
Eastburn of Santa Rosa, California; and numerous devoted nieces
and nephews.
