Friends of the Library: Selling in the Rain

The Friends of the Library held its seventeenth annual Book Sale from April 20 through April 22, 2006, under its trademark tent on the Brickyard. The sale attracted hundreds of faculty, students, and Friends of the Library members, and students seemed especially excited to capitalize on the opportunity to purchase great books at great prices.

Wild weather on the Saturday sale day turned the area into a flood zone, with heavy winds driving torrential rain under the tent's sides. Staff saved most of the materials, and the sale continued until its planned conclusion Saturday evening. Despite the weather, the Book Sale raised $8,815 to benefit the NCSU Libraries. Thanks to all the book donors and volunteers for their wonderful help in making the sale a success.
