Library Development: Building a Dream One Brick at a Time

By Jim Mulvey, Library Development

Would you like to become a permanent part of the NCSU Libraries by purchasing an engraved commemorative brick? The Friends of the Library and the University Library Committee launched a brick campaign last year to support the renovation project in the D. H. Hill Library. Funds raised through the sale of engraved bricks help make the renovated spaces more functional and attractive for NC State students and faculty.

The first order of engraved bricks has been installed along the breezeway outside the main entrance of the D. H. Hill Library. A big thank you goes out to all the NCSU Libraries' friends who ordered red or white commemorative bricks during the early stages of the D. H. Hill Library's East Wing renovation.

People are purchasing bricks to honor individuals important in their lives or to recognize a favorite team, club, or association. The bricks will be seen by thousands of daily visitors and will be a lasting feature of a very special place on the NC State campus. The next order of commemorative bricks will be placed soon with the engraver. Consider becoming part of this great tradition.

Ordering information may be found on the Web at the following URL link: http://www.lib.ncsu.edu/bricks/; or by calling the Friends of the Library at (919) 515-2841.
