Friends of the Library--Emyl Jenkins Steals the Show
By Anne Schnatter, Friends of the Library
On December 8, 2005, the Friends of the Library welcomed Emyl
Jenkins, the talented writer and Friends of the Library life member,
for an antiques-filled luncheon special. Jenkins read from her
latest book and first foray into fiction, Stealing with Style.
Intended to be the first in a new mystery series, the book draws
upon her extensive knowledge of antiques and the antiques trade.
Nancy Olson, fellow Friends life member and owner of the independent
bookstore Quail Ridge Books and Music, introduced Jenkins. The
dynamic and fun-loving personalities of these two women made this
an enjoyable event for all who attended. In addition, board member
Anna Ball Hodge provided antique-themed decorations for the podium
and entryway. Members of the Friends of the Library Program Committee,
who helped plan the event, continued the decorating scheme throughout
the luncheon area. The luncheon concluded in the spirit of the
popular television program "Antiques Roadshow," with
Jenkins examining and offering information about antiques owned
by members of the audience. |
